Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro Spotted Online on Wi-Fi Alliance Certification Site; Launching Soon?

After being spotted at the US FCC and EEC, the Redmi Note 6 Pro has now been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance

A few days back, two unannounced Xiaomi smartphones with model numbers M1806E7TG and M1806E7TH made an appearance at the FCC, Taiwan’s NCC, and the Eurasian Economic Commission. The M1806E7TH has now been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance, hinting at an imminent launch.

Redmi Note 6 Pro: Wi-Fi Certification Received

While the previous certifications did not confirm the name of the device, the Wi-Fi certification actually confirms that the M1806E7TH is indeed the Redmi Note 6 Pro. Sadly, however, the listing does not include any other useful information. Even the exact version of Android has not been specified. However, the Wi-Fi certification does suggest that Xiaomi is getting ready to launch the smartphone soon. As we mentioned above, the Redmi Note 6 and Redmi Note 6 Pro have now been certified by multiple agencies in various countries.

Redmi Note 6 Pro: Specifications, Features

The key specifications and features of the upcoming Redmi Note 6 Pro remain a complete mystery at this point. If the Redmi 6 series is any indication, the Redmi Note 6 Pro may not be a very significant upgrade over the current Redmi Note 5 Pro. The Snapdragon 636 chipset powering the Redmi Note 5 Pro is already more powerful than most of its rivals, so we are not exactly sure if Xiaomi will go with an even more powerful chipset for the Redmi Note 6 Pro. It does, of course, have the option of using the Snapdragon 660 processor, which it uses in the Android One Mi A2.
The display is one area where the Redmi Note 6 Pro might be upgrade over the current Redmi Note 5 Pro. While the Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with a 5.99-inch 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ resolution IPS LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, the Redmi Note 6 Pro might arrive with a notched display with a slightly higher resolution and possibly a higher pixel density as well. In terms of memory, we don’t expect to see any major changes with the Redmi Note 6 Pro. It will likely be available in the same two memory configurations as its predecessor. Connectivity features are likely to remain identical as well. You can expect the Redmi Note 6 Pro to come with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and 4G VoLTE. Battery life is another area where the Redmi Note 6 Pro might be very similar to its predecessor. However, we certainly hope that device will offer improved charging speeds when compared to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. In terms of software, the Redmi Note 6 Pro is expected to ship with the Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 10 out of the box.

Redmi Note 6 Pro: Expected Price in India

In case the Redmi Note 6 Pro turns out to be incremental update over the existing Redmi Note 5 Pro, we expect it to be identically-priced in India. The Redmi Note 5 Pro is currently on sale in India at Rs.14,999 for the base variant with 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, while the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage of the budget Android smartphone is priced at Rs.16,990. However, if the Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with quite a few significant upgrades compared to its predecessor, it will likely carry a premium of up to Rs.2,000 compared to the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
